Chinese Consul General in Cape Town Ren Faqiang Pays a Visit to SARC

On September 15th, 2026, Ren Faqiang, Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Cape Town, paid a visit to South African Rooibos Council(SARC) at Cape Natural Tea Products. He met and discussed with Mr Dawie de Villiers, director and founder member of SARC, talked about the market feedback after China's implementation of “zero-tariff” treatment for South African goods, and exchanged views on strengthening trade cooperation and people to people exchanges between China and South Africa.

Consul General Ren praised the distinctive quality of South African Rooibos Tea, which is popular among Chinese consumers, and emphasized the Consulate General will continue providing facilitation and support for economic and trade cooperation between the two countries

Director Villiers introduced the overview of the cultivation and global sales of South African Rooibos Tea, expressed gratitude to the Consulate General for its attention and support to SARC and Rooibos industry, and looked forward to taking advantage of the Chinese “zero-tariff” policy to explore the Chinese market and provide high-quality Rooibos and its derivative products for Chinese consumers.
